TEXTURE - Simple beauty...

So, next up in our series of TEXTURE Tags we have a really simple but beautiful tag. For this one I used a Tag base I had created at a show as a demonstration and finished it off.

To create the Tag I started with a manilla tag and added blobs of fossilised amber, cracked pistachio and peeled paint Distress Oxide until the tag was covered. Then using the Dotties stamp I spritzed it with water and stamped it over the tag, and blotted off the water with kitchen roll.

Next using the same three colours stamp Dotties all over the tag.

Using forest moss I stamped the Chicken wire stamp twice doen the left hand side an once on the right. I then cleaned then spritzed my stamp and stamped just off of the already stamped Chicken wire to create a shadown effect. Finally I added some walnut stain Distress Oxide around the edge.

Then using Watering Can Archival ink I stamped the large Spring Flowers 2 in the bottom corner and then stamped in in Shadow Grey to create some depth.

I then stamped the sentiment in Black Archival.

To highlight the stamped image I used a white Gelly Roll Pen, I also highlighted the sentiment.

To finish off the tag I added black ribbon around the base and to the top.

TEXTURE - Live your life...

Well, this month hasn't quite gone to plan, but I am back and I hope I can squeeze a couple more TEXTURE Tags in before the end of the month.

This one feels perfect for today a beautiful bright summery tag

For this one I started with a Kraft Tag and a selection of Distress Oxides

And colour the tag, a third in each colour

Then using the Splat stamp, spritz the stamp with water then stamp onto the tag and remove the excess water with kitchen roll, to create a faux bleaching effect. Do this randomly over the tag.

Making sure the stamp is dry ink it up in the palest colour and stamp it again randomly over the tag.

Then repeat this with the other two colours until you are happy with the tag.

Onto some spare white card I stamped a number of the Solid mini funky Flowers Foliage and Violet stamps, using Distress Oxides.

I then stamped the outlines in a deeper Versafine colour.

I then cut these out.

Next I stamped "Live your Life" stamp in Versafine Black in and trimmed a piece of white card to fit.

I cut a piece of black card just slightly bigger than the sentiment then arranged the sentiment and flowers onto my tag.

I though the tag looked a little odd so added a couple of the small sketch lines to balance it, I stamped these in Vintage Sepia Versafine.

I then stuck everything down and chose a ribbon, I chose a yellow organza ribbon and distressed it using some Distress Oxides. And finally I added a couple of pearls to the centre of the flowers.

TEXTURE - Warts and all....

Welcome back we have another TEXTURE tag to share today warts and all!

This fab tag just oozes character and of course texture.

To start I chose 3 Distress Oxide colours and placed some of the palest colour onto a non porous surface (I used my POLY MOUNT for this it's the perfect size!) and spritzed it with water.

I then dabbed my tag into it. when I was happy with the colour I heat set it using my heat gun then repeated with the following two colours, one colour at a time.

Using one of the Distress Oxides used to create the base of my Tag I stamped the larger of the sketch line in it randomly over the tag.

Again using one of the base colours I stamped the Harlequin in 2 opposite corners.

Onto a spare piece of white card I stamped FUN-Gus

Onto it I used a Brusho spray and sprayed the top in red and the base in yellow

To add more texture to Gus I stamped the distressed panel over the base and added some extra MINI Dots to the top. I then added some more colour to base using Distress Oxides as paint.

Next I placed it onto my tag and stamped some Mini Solid Bubbles in the background as flowers in a different Distress Oxide colour.

I then dried this using a heat gun and added some doodles using a white Gelly Roll Pen.

Around the edge of the Tag I stamped the smaller Sketch line using Versafine - Vintage Sepia.

Lay Gus back onto the Tag to help with the positioning of the text and stamp that in Versafine - Black.

To finish off my tag  I found some lovely yellow ribbon and distressed it using Distress Oxides and tied it to my Tag, and attached Gus using Foam tape, I then added some Glossy Accents to Gus's spots and warts.

I just love how this one turned out it's just so bright and vibrant!

TEXTURE - Stand out!

For today's TEXTURE Tag we are keeping it simple but boy doe it stand out

First up choose three Distress Oxides colours, I used fosslised amber, cracked pistachio and peacock feathers. I covered my tag in these colours

Using the Dotties stamp, stamp it randomly in each of the colours used to distress the tag.

Next using Versafine - Vintage Sepia stamp parts of the Coffee Stain stamp over the stag I used the first and second generation ink for this to get more depth.

Making sure the tag was completely dry, I then part stamped the Bubble wrap stamp in clear ink and embossed in Vintage white Embossing powder.

Onto a spare piece of card I stamp Dennis Dragonfly in black Versafine and dried using the heat gun.

Then using different Distress Oxides I painted Dennis and added some dots using the Mini Dots Stamp, when he was dry I added some doodles using my white Gelly Roll Pen. And cut then out.

Onto the tag I stamped the BULB Stand Out saying but it wouldn't fit as is so I inked up the first part in Versafine black and stamped that in one space cleaned it then inked up the rest and stamped that. I also placed a piece of scrap paper under the part of the stamp I wasn't stamping so it didn't mark my work.

Finally I attached Dennis to my tag and I will add some ribbon when I can decide on what colour to choose........

TEXTURE - Your Light!

today we are going to go dark and grungy with our textures, but don't worry there is light! Now if you are wanting to go grungy there is only one TEXTURE Stamp to call on and that's the Distressed Panel, this stamp is great for breaking up those blank spaces (like the lovely Dotties) BUT it is more angular and solid so you get a much more industrial look. I get too excited talking about our texture stamps I know!

Anyway today we are going to make this fab fellow....

For this one I used a Kraft tag as I wanted the dark grungy look and as I was apply Distress Oxides the colour would still show. I also chose some grungy colours, notice how I have the old paper in there yes its a light colour but it isn't a bright colour. And distressed my tag, all over with the old paper, then concentrated the tea dye and iced spruce around the edges.

Then using the Distressed Panel stamp I stamped it all over the Tag in tea dye.

Then parts of the stamp using Versafine - Vintage Sepia until I was happy with the effect.

I popped this to one side until I had sorted the bulb. Next I stamped the Bulb in Versafine black onto some white card and cut this out (initially I left a small bordered but later I decided to cut it away!). Over the base of the bulb I applied some gold sparkle pen.

I dried the blub using a heat gun. When it was dry I used  antique linen and tea dye to distress the bulb, then to break up the space I stamped Dotties in both of the Distress Ink colours.

Into the bulb I stamped Bulb Insert - Your Light in Versafine Black and then using a Black Gelly Roll pen I doddled a filament for the bulb.

Now for the next part its important to prepare and the key to all of this is protecting your stamp!

Now a lot of people say you can't do this technique using a "clear stamp", but there are many different types of "clear stamp", for example the really soft squishy stamps, are generally made from Acrylic DO NOT do this technique with them, it will melt, BUT any good quality Photopolymer stamp (like ours!) these are the stamps that yellow in sunlight, are slightly tacky to touch, smell and are generally very hard wearing, will be fine as these use some of the high quality Photopolymer on the market!

Cover the Cracked stamp in Versafine - Vintage Sepia and place to one side.
Quickly ink all over the bulb in clear ink and apply clear embossing powder, heat to set it set it BUT DON'T LET IT COOL!

Whilst it is still hot apply more embossing powder to the glass part of the bulb, the embossing powder will stick to the hot tacky melted embossing powder. - I did this 3 times!

When the final coat of embossing powder had melted I immediately stamped the cracked stamp into it, I do this all over the glass part of the bulb.

As long as you work quickly and stamp into hot embossing powder you will be left with this fabulous effect.......

Now this is where I got a little excited to finish the tag and forgot to take photos, but to finish of the tag I stamped the smaller Sketch Lines in Versafine - Vintage Sepia in the 2 opposite corners and 3 d mounted the bulb onto it.

And for the ribbon I took some Black and Blush organza Ribbon and distressed it using distress Oxides Like I did for the previous tag.

I am so please with how this one turned out, I am having so much fun revisiting all these fabulous techniques. I hope you can join me again soon

Kym x
