Mildred's Birthday

Sometimes I just have to play with my stamps and if things work great if not they get filed! This one worked.....

To make this card I started by ripping a page from a book and stamping Mildred onto it, then using acrylic paints I coloured her in - making sure I painted over the lines.

Whilst Mildred was drying, I  found some patterned papers to make a background distressed around the edge, stamped fake stitches, where the two papers met I attached some lace around it. Next I lightly distressed a very small doily for the bottom corner and die cut and embossed some flowers for the top right. For the brad I found a 1 inch brad sanded it lightly and stamped "Birthday Wishes 2U" into the centre using Stazon.

Once Mildred was dry I stamped Mildred again this time using Stazon and added some flowers to her bodice from the On the Branch stamp set. I tore around all the edges of the page from the book,  then stamped the corner cog stamp from Large Cog Corner and finally I distressed around the edge.

To finish of the card I attached the doily to the bottom left corner of the patterned papers, then added Mildred at an angle, across the bottom of the card I added some ribbon and a bow (I made a slit in the doily to push the ribbon through). In the top right of the patterned papers I added the die cut flowers using the large brad. In the corners of the page from a book I added a brad and a bead cap. This was then added to an A5 base card which had been distressed around the edges. finally I added some buttons and hatpins.

Birthday's

September sees the start of my biggest run on birthdays, each card being equally as important as the last!

This card was made for my Mother-in-Law it was her birthday last week but I wanted to make sure it had arrived before I popped it on here as I didn't want to spoil the surprise!

To make this card:

I started by cutting a piece of cream card 2cm smaller than an A5 card. I stamped a stack of hats in the left corner, then next to them I stamped Mildred. I then added the Fairy Wings.

Next I created a mask for the piece of card that left a torn boarder. Around the edge I stamped a script stamp and removed the mask. I then distressed the whole piece of card lightly then re-added the mask to add the darker distressing. To colour in the hats I used Distress Inks and a water brush and for Mildred I used a mask and Distress Ink.

Onto spare cream card I stamped Mildred again, over stamped her with a script stamp and cut out her body. This was then lightly distressed and covered in UTEE. (I try to remove as much UTEE as possible before heating to give a crackled effect!) then I distressed it again using blue Distress Ink to fill in the gaps in the UTEE.

Onto more spare cream card I stamped the Baby Butterfly and cut out the wings.

Next I took some parcel string  and coloured it to match the card by "splodging" Distress Inks onto a glass mat, spritzing it, then pressing the string into the colour until I was happy with it, I then used my heat gun and kitchen roll to dry it off.

Whilst the string was drying (it took ages, think I got carried away!) I worked on the base card. To do this I made a 14.5cm square cream card and scored the front again at 7cm to create the easel. Onto the 7cm flap I stamped the script stamp around the edge and I also stamped it in the inside of the card. Both the inside and the 7cm flap were distressed. Across the bottom of the inside of the base card I added the Steampunk edge from Tim Holtz which I had coloured using Distress Stains and then covered in UTEE. Just above this I added some paper ribbon, fabric tape and finally the sentiment.

To make up the card I wrapped the string around the base of the stamped images, added Mildred's body, baby butterfly and some die cut leaves and flowers (Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers and leaves). This was then matted onto a piece of kraft card which I had added Frantage embossing powder around the edge and then attached to the card. Once everything was attached to the card I added Crackle Paint to the Butterfly's wings.

I am really pleased with how this card turned out it took a little longer than planned but I think it was worth it.

Wedding Day!

Whoops it's been a couple of days!

I have been busy playing out in this fabulous weather and have been too tired at night to blog, where as the small one (Little Lady!) has decided as its hot she will stay up later and later! Personally I think it has something to do with the bucketful of fresh home grown strawberries she is consuming every day,  or the fact she has a sneaky kip in the back of car every time we nip out even though from the moment we set off we are singing songs at the top of our lungs suddenly my singing buddy stops and she has zonked, who knows!!!

Any way back to crafty matters, this card has to be one of my favourite wedding cards of all time, I think it looks so different ....

To make this one I stamped onto a piece of white card 2cm smaller than an A5 card, the Large Cog Corner into the top right corner and bottom left in brown ink and created a mask, to mask off the bottom corner.

Next I stamped Mildred to the left of the card and again onto another piece of white card. I coloured both of the Mildred's in using Distress Inks. Once I was happy I distressed around the stamped card and mounted it onto a bronze piece of card 1cm larger, then that was mounted onto an A5 cream pearl card and added Glossy Accents to Mildred.

Next working on the other piece of white card I stamped the Nakie Hatter and coloured it in and I also stamped "Congratulations 2U" from Postage Sentiments and cut them all out.

I covered Mildred in ultra thick embossing enamel. ( I used enamel as it dried quicker other wise I would have used Glossy Accents and left it to dry over night). Next I attached some net for a skirt, and around the top part of her body I attached lace and ribbon. I then attached Mildred to the card.

Next I shaped and attached Nakie Hatter to the other Mildred. The sentiment was placed in a bottle top and secured using Glossy Accents and then attached to the card.

I think this card works really well and can be adapted to suit any colour! I hope you like it too.....

Rock Chick

I just love how this card turned out it's a real "Rock Chick" card I fancy giving it a try in black and white....

To make this card I started by stamping Mildred onto white card, then stamping "U ROCK!" from the Awesome Boyz stamp set onto her body. I then masked u rock off and distressed the rest of the body in pink and the stand in browns. Around her waist I tied some chain and attached a skull and cross bones charm.

Next I stamped Angel Wings onto some silver vellum in pink ink, left them on one side to dry and cut them out.

For the background I took a piece of white card 2cm smaller than an A5 card and masked about 1cm around the edge. Next I stamped Crafty Jack on light pink across the middle and in darker pink at the top and bottom. I then masked off each  Crafty Jack  in turn and distressed them using the same ink as I stamped them in. once I was happy I removed all the masking. I them matted this onto a slightly larger piece of silver card and them onto a dusky pink A5 card. Up the left hand side I tied a Silver ribbon and added some hat pins. On the left hand side I added a silver corner to the top and bottom.

To finish the card I attached the Angel Wings to the centre of the card and then attached Mildred over the top.

Classy Mildred

Often I am shocked how a card turns out, and this one really surprised me! I love how classy Mildred looks she really is such a versatile stamp!

To make this card I started by stamping Mildred onto white card then onto her body I stamped Crafty Jack (I didn't even bother masking her, tut, tut!). I then cut her out and used distress inks to "colour" in her stand and add slight shading to her body. Once I was happy I covered her in ultra thick embossing enamel and left her to cool! I then stamped Mad Hatter distressed him slightly and covered him in ultra thick embossing powder too.

Next I took a piece of white card slightly smaller than a DL card and chose a pink and brown distress ink. Using the pink distress ink I covered an acrylic block in the ink (the block was slightly wider than the paper) I then spritzed it and pressed the block onto the top of the card, then re-spritzed and pressed the block this time onto the bottom of the card. I then wiped the remaining ink from the block and inked it up using the brown and repeated, this time adding ink in the center and to any other places that I felt it need to go! In other words I played with the ink and water until I was happy and dried the card using a heat gun!

Once the backing card was dry I stamped the cog arrangement from Mini Cog Corners randomly in the brown distress ink, then around the edge I stamped the long stem from Poppy Cogs. I then mounted this onto a dusky pink card. Next I took a piece of cotton lace and distressed it slightly (the white was far to bright!) and added that to the top left corner and bottom right. Across the bottom right I also added some dusky pink ribbon, a bow and some hat pins. This was then attached to a DL Kraft Card.

Next  I attached a pink ribbon around Mildred waist and attached her to the card. I then made a bow from the same ribbon and attached this to the Mad Hatter using a silver brad. The Mad Hatter was then positioned onto Mildred

Finally I stamped "Birthday Wishes 2U" from Postage Sentiments and added it to a bottle top then attached it to the card.

Princess Mildred

This card was made using some more of the new stamps from Crafty Roo Designs.

For this card I used the following NEW stamp sets:

To make this card I cut a small strip of card and onto it stamped Mildred then created a mask for her and stamped Crafty Jack onto the body part and distressed the post. Next I coloured in Crafty Jack Using two purple Distress Inks. Around the edge I stamped the long stem from Poppy Cogs  I then covered this piece in UTEE but stopped heating it as soon as it melted but before it merged into one nice smooth layer. Then when it was cool I Distressed it again to give it a great texture. Next I added a skirt, ribbon and brads to Mildred.

Next I cut a piece of back card slightly bigger and embossed the edges using Frantage embossing powders. these two pieces were matted and brads added to each corner. Next using the Frantage embossing powder I melted some onto card then whilst it was still hot stamped Cog Crown into it. Once it was cool I cut it out and added it to Mildred.

For the background I stamped different sentiments from the Postage Sentiments  stamp set and added the postage mark. Around the edge I stamped the long stem from Poppy Cogs and Distressed it.

This was then matted onto a piece of black card whilst I had added Frantage embossing powders around the edge. To this piece I then attached some brads and a ribbon. This was then matted onto a black card and Mildred was added.

Finally I added a black flower and a bottle top with one of the sentiments from Postage Sentiments.
