One for the boys

This one looks a bit like I feel this week!

Little man has found his feet, he has been toddling around for a good month or so but this week his confidence has grown and he is like Usain Bolt. One rustle of a bag or the creak of a door opening and he is off to investigate at a 100mph! So, needless to say after my millionth dash from one end of the house to the to other I am feeling a tad "vintage".

This card was really fun and best of all I got to sit down...

For this one I started by staining an A4 piece of card using Tea Dye Distress stain. Whilst that was drying I cut a 7.5 inch square piece of card and stamped Happy Birthday all over it, using the 1st and 2nd generation images to add more texture. I then distressed it, added sketch marks, mounted it onto a brown card, added a brad to each corner, tied some string around it, then mounted it onto an 8 in square base card.

When the stained card was dry (I cheated and used a heat gun to speed it up) I stamped Crafty Jack in one corner and Jalopy in the other I trimmed these down. Onto a spare piece of the card I stamped Happy Birthday and trimmed this down too. I then added some colour to Crafty Jack using distress inks and distressed all the three stamped images adding sketch marks. These were then mounted onto brown and black card as before. I then attached Crafty Jack to the card. Onto the three stamped images I added crackle glaze and left to dry.

When everything was dry I punched a small hole in each corner of Jalopy and Happy Birthday, added brads and attached them to the card.

This one was so much fun to make and I remembered how much fun Crackle Glaze can be!!!!!!!!!

Born to stand out!

I just love this little card, I made it whilst at Doncaster the other week.

I know the matting and layering is a little crooked and the wording could have done with being matted too but I like it and I am definitely going to play with this idea, so watch this space.......

I started by second generation stamping  Crafty Jack onto a piece of card 2cm smaller than A6 (I inked up Crafty Jack, stamped him onto some scrap paper then stamped him where I wanted him, it gives you a much softer image). next I coloured it in using watered down Distress Inks and a water brush. This was then mounted on to a piece of blue card and then again to an A6 card.

Next I stamped the solid Lizzie stamp onto some spare paper/card, then I added the detail stamp over the top and cut it out. Onto the card I position Lizzie (but didn't stick her down!) and stamped the stem and leaf. Then I stuck Lizzie down with foam tape and added a gem.

Finally, I cut out one of my favourite DR Seuss sayings "Why fit in when you were born to stand out?" and added it to the card.

I think you will be seeing this card a lot as I have a few birthdays coming up which it will be perfect for!

Birthday Two

And another birthday card!

This card is for my Father-in-Law. I am always looking for fabulous quotes and the Dr Suess one I used on this card is just perfect

"Today you are you,
That is truer than true.
There is no one alive
who is
Youer than you!"

The Tim Holtz Vintage type writer is a die I got for my birthday as a challenge from my sister, this is the first time I have used it but I have to say I love it! Cheers sis!

For the background of the card I stamped Crafty Jack in two shades of ink filling the card, then in two opposite corners I stamped the Large Cog Corner and distressed it until I was happy.

Next I  die cut the Tim Holtz Vintage Typewriter twice once in black and the second one out of black card that I had washed with the silver Distress Stain. I also die cut the Tim Holtz Steampunk edge and added UTEE to it. Finally I die cut one of the Tim Holtz tattered banners but it was far to long for the card so I turned it around on the die and cut it to the length I needed. Onto it I stamped "Happy Birthday" and distressed it.

Then I typed out the quote on the "puter" and trimmed it down to fit the gap and distressed it.

To make up the card I attached some fabric tape and string around the bottom of the background card. Then down the left hand side I added the Steampunk edge and trimmed it to fit. Next I added the quote to the type writer and stuck that to the background card using 3d glue, then I sat and added ALL the keys (I don't do fiddly so this was really hard for me, lol!). I then added the banner and attached it with two brads. The background card was then attached to an A5 Kraft card that I had added Frantage embossing powder around the edge off.

I wasn't quite pleased with the finished result so I quickly stamped, cut out, distressed, embossed and re-distressed the Baby Dragonfly. I added it to the card and it was perfect.

Rock Chick

I just love how this card turned out it's a real "Rock Chick" card I fancy giving it a try in black and white....

To make this card I started by stamping Mildred onto white card, then stamping "U ROCK!" from the Awesome Boyz stamp set onto her body. I then masked u rock off and distressed the rest of the body in pink and the stand in browns. Around her waist I tied some chain and attached a skull and cross bones charm.

Next I stamped Angel Wings onto some silver vellum in pink ink, left them on one side to dry and cut them out.

For the background I took a piece of white card 2cm smaller than an A5 card and masked about 1cm around the edge. Next I stamped Crafty Jack on light pink across the middle and in darker pink at the top and bottom. I then masked off each  Crafty Jack  in turn and distressed them using the same ink as I stamped them in. once I was happy I removed all the masking. I them matted this onto a slightly larger piece of silver card and them onto a dusky pink A5 card. Up the left hand side I tied a Silver ribbon and added some hat pins. On the left hand side I added a silver corner to the top and bottom.

To finish the card I attached the Angel Wings to the centre of the card and then attached Mildred over the top.

Classy Mildred

Often I am shocked how a card turns out, and this one really surprised me! I love how classy Mildred looks she really is such a versatile stamp!

To make this card I started by stamping Mildred onto white card then onto her body I stamped Crafty Jack (I didn't even bother masking her, tut, tut!). I then cut her out and used distress inks to "colour" in her stand and add slight shading to her body. Once I was happy I covered her in ultra thick embossing enamel and left her to cool! I then stamped Mad Hatter distressed him slightly and covered him in ultra thick embossing powder too.

Next I took a piece of white card slightly smaller than a DL card and chose a pink and brown distress ink. Using the pink distress ink I covered an acrylic block in the ink (the block was slightly wider than the paper) I then spritzed it and pressed the block onto the top of the card, then re-spritzed and pressed the block this time onto the bottom of the card. I then wiped the remaining ink from the block and inked it up using the brown and repeated, this time adding ink in the center and to any other places that I felt it need to go! In other words I played with the ink and water until I was happy and dried the card using a heat gun!

Once the backing card was dry I stamped the cog arrangement from Mini Cog Corners randomly in the brown distress ink, then around the edge I stamped the long stem from Poppy Cogs. I then mounted this onto a dusky pink card. Next I took a piece of cotton lace and distressed it slightly (the white was far to bright!) and added that to the top left corner and bottom right. Across the bottom right I also added some dusky pink ribbon, a bow and some hat pins. This was then attached to a DL Kraft Card.

Next  I attached a pink ribbon around Mildred waist and attached her to the card. I then made a bow from the same ribbon and attached this to the Mad Hatter using a silver brad. The Mad Hatter was then positioned onto Mildred.

Finally I stamped "Birthday Wishes 2U" from Postage Sentiments and added it to a bottle top then attached it to the card.

Princess Mildred

This card was made using some more of the new stamps from Crafty Roo Designs.

For this card I used the following NEW stamp sets:

To make this card I cut a small strip of card and onto it stamped Mildred then created a mask for her and stamped Crafty Jack onto the body part and distressed the post. Next I coloured in Crafty Jack Using two purple Distress Inks. Around the edge I stamped the long stem from Poppy Cogs.   I then covered this piece in UTEE but stopped heating it as soon as it melted but before it merged into one nice smooth layer. Then when it was cool I Distressed it again to give it a great texture. Next I added a skirt, ribbon and brads to Mildred.

Next I cut a piece of back card slightly bigger and embossed the edges using Frantage embossing powders. these two pieces were matted and brads added to each corner. Next using the Frantage embossing powder I melted some onto card then whilst it was still hot stamped Cog Crown into it. Once it was cool I cut it out and added it to Mildred.

For the background I stamped different sentiments from the Postage Sentiments  stamp set and added the postage mark. Around the edge I stamped the long stem from Poppy Cogs and Distressed it.

This was then matted onto a piece of black card whilst I had added Frantage embossing powders around the edge. To this piece I then attached some brads and a ribbon. This was then matted onto a black card and Mildred was added.

Finally I added a black flower and a bottle top with one of the sentiments from Postage Sentiments.

Simply Inky!

Some days I just have to play with my inks and today was one of those days!

I made these beauties by stamping the Crafty Jack stamp in the centre of a card and "coloured" them in using watered down Distress Inks!

(Faded Jeans and Festive Berries)

(Dusty Concorde and Tattered Rose)

(Faded Jeans and Stormy Sky)

I love how different they look just by playing with the colours.

Inks/Stains: Distress inks: Faded Jeans, Fired Brick, Chipped Saphire,Old Paper. Memento: Tuxedo Black
